Marriland's Survivors

So I recently started watching 's Pokémon videos ([link]) after someone posted a link to his Wedlocke rules. He's a fun and knowledgeable guy and his videos are fun to watch! I was intrigued and began to watch his series, eventually becoming inspired to start my own. This isn't about me, though. This about those original Pokémon in Marriland's Emerald Nuzlocke and HeartGold Wedlocke, those ones he started with and that survived many great odds. At the same time, it is a memorial for the surviving pair of HeartGold, as they recently gave up their lives in the battle against Blue.

From humble beginnings - especially on Fries' part, having originally been the Pickup and HM slave of the group - they more than proved their worth time and time again, by besting difficult foes and taking critical hits on the chin and much more. Fries especially has tanked more than that though - the amount of team-mates he'd seen perish before him must have been terrible. There is little wonder why he is known as "The Avenger". I have yet to finish watching Marriland's Emerald Nuzlocke from where these two are from, but despite the spoilers they continue to surprise me.

Carrot. Poor, poor Carrot. He has seen so much death. Being one of the very first Pokémon Marriland caught in his HeartGold Wedlocke this tough little guy has been through so much pain and hardship, much like Fries above. He has also been paired with many different Pokémon due to this, and each time he came back stronger to avenge those who fell. He stuck it out all the way through Johto, the Elite Four and most of Kanto with his final partner and mate, Peach. While Peach wasn't an original member of the team there could be no better partner for Carrot. She stuck it out just as much as he did and stayed by his side to the bitter end.
It was such a tragedy to see these two fall at the final hurdle after everything they'd been through. It was cruel and unfair. At least their legacy will live on in the form of those baby Mankeys they'd had and given to their trainer's friends.
